This is an easy and tasty treat that can be embellished in many different ways. I chose to go the easy route since it was my first time making them. The only thing I had problems with was the ‘dipping chocolate’. I heated the chocolate in the microwave, and it came out really thick. Too thick to get a pretty coating, but next time I will be heating the chocolate on the stove for better consistency.
Also, I will experiment with different coatings (mint chocolate), and perhaps add some nuts or coconut before the coating drys.
Everyone said these were quite yummy, and I have to agree. Who doesn’t love Oreos?!!

Recipe:
1 package oreo cookies (set 7 aside for sprinkling on the tops)
1 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)
1 package of melting chocolate (for dipping)
1. Crush cookies in a food processor or any other creative method you would like. (crush the remaining 7 separately)
2. Stir in softened cream cheese. (I used the back of a spoon for a little while, then I just used my hands to mix it consistently)
3. Roll the mixture into 1″ balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
4. Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate, tap off extra and set aside on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry. You can sprinkle the tops with anything you fancy or decorate it with different melting chocolate. (This is where you can sprinkle your 7 cookies that you set aside.)
5. Once you are done decorating, refrigerate so the shells can harden.
Makes about 36 truffles.
